Priest preview to be shown at Comic-con and also to be done in 3D

A bit of an update on the movie I’ve been working on.

Priest (3D) — A western-infused post-apocalyptic thriller, set in an alternate world — one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q) who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.

The setup of “Priest” may sound like the beginning of a joke, “So a priest, a sherrif and a priestess…” but once the plot point of rescuing the priests’ niece from vampires is thrown into the mix, the premise becomes relatively rich with action and horror potential.

Those factors could very well be the reason behind Screen Gems’ decision to take the film 3D when it opens on its new release date of January 14, 2011.

“We’re thrilled with the way ‘Priest’ has come together, and we saw some spectacular sequences in the film that we all believed would be even more amazing in 3D.” said Clint Culpepper, President of Screen Gems in an official press release, “Scott, as well as the producers, couldn’t be more excited to make the film available for audiences in both 2D and 3D.”
